Working double shifts left and right is the biggest challenge, but hey the overtime sure does help when you decide to get a new place. It also comes in handy when you have a new startup charity organization that you solely fund.

A raffle application pays off…



I downloaded this app called RafflesNow, and didn't see any activity after a few weeks so I deleted it. This was a couple of months ago when I'd set up three recurring raffles for the outreach. To my surprise, I received an email the day before yesterday stating that my share of the 50/50 raffle of $43 was being mailed out! This comes in perfect time to assist the Holiday Cheer sponsorship of two local families.

Overcoming negativity in the workplace! Episode 2.

So far, so ok. 

    Day 2 wasn’t bad at all.. A couple more ex-employees who didn’t know I was back, tons of guests that I didn’t realize really knew me or would be glad I was back.. so lots of hugs and love. The only downfall was being on the floor alone for two and a half hours. Which is ok..the tips were good, however the first hour it was just me and a new ‘shift manager’ who wasn’t trained to cook yet. On top of this there was a whole list of food items we were out of but unaware. I took the easy route to maintain positivity by saying”it’s only my second day back, I’m sorry but we’re trying to get this place running smooth,” and shaking my head. I’ve had enough of the feeling bad and apologizing when it’s not MY fault. That’s a surefire way to make no money in tips, I learned the hard way, eventually!

    Finally, the other scheduled server arrived (only 30 minutes late). I was flustered (no nicotine in a few hours does it every time), but it had cleared out pretty much and I only had 3 tables left. She looks at me like I’m a newbie for being a little (barely) stressed and says “are you new?”. I replied, “no, it’s actually been pretty busy.. I haven’t even had a chance to bus or clean tables!” When I snuck out back for a smoke, I counted my tips, and that’s how I knew it’d been busy, and I told her when I got back in, “told you I was busy, $37 in tips in 2 1/2 hours!,”       
which is pretty good for an early Thursday evening. It was going really good though and I told everyone so, while I tried to get all of my tables cleaned and stock everything in between more 
customers coming in. 

    So, all happy that my positivity hadn’t waned I let my guard down, and of course SOMETHING had to go sour. I guess maybe I was too happy, or maybe I shouldn’t have been said I’d made good tips?

    The shift manager, whom I’d worked with (as a shift manager and her a server) a few times before I had quit, came to me with a ridiculous statement. She says, “you know there are two of you now, you guys need to rotate and take turns with your tables”. “Yeah, of course,” I responded.
“Well, she says you’re hogging tables.” she explained. 

Are you serious?? I wish she’d take more, I’d like to get caught up sometime I’ve only had one cigarette in hours (she’d had several, she was a manager...).”

Completely uninterested and uninvolved... “just telling you what she said”. “I understand, but look...” I pointed to my side, “1,2,3,4,5” then to her side, “1,2,3,4,5 and table two has been here an hour and a half, before she ever got here!”
    And here’s how it stayed ok: I simply laughed incredulously, shook it off, and continued having a great night. The next two tables that came in I directed to my coworkers side. When the third arrived I looked at her, and innocently and sweet asked her, “ I’m not sure, is it my turn or yours?” 



The point of recounting this restaurant dialogue and drama? NEGATIVITY -1 SERENITY +1

*This was written about a week ago. My website was down and I was under the weather.. unfortunately, when I did write it I kept getting interrupted, even though I specifically said.. ‘I’m trying to make a blog post and haven’t been writing much, and it’s almost time for work’. It’s funny how no matter what I’m doing, whatever story about work (told for the 20th time) paranoid ranting or insane analogy is always more important than me trying to do something I enjoy. This is why I enjoy my solitude these days. It took me a week to get it posted!!

☀️I recently quit my full-time job due to the overwhelming negativity fueled by gossip, and then false rumors about myself that I wasn’t made aware of until now. I didn’t get involved with the name trashing or boss bashing, which apparently made me a target. Stress was getting to me, I was sick all the time and even having chest pains a lot. So I chose to preserve my  happiness and positivity and left.

Hello there,

As a result of starting a charitable organization, and taking donations in my home, it’s getting a little crowded! I have tons of clothes, well.. not just clothes, there are blankets, coats, shoes, & hygiene supplies. Tubs and crates all sizes, filling up an entire closet and then some, stashed behind the recliner and in every nook and cranny!

This is normal to me in a way, since I’ve had a few hoarders in my family growing up. Me, well I’m collecting for the homeless and needy. I found something amusing the other day so I thought I would share. 

I  MYSELF... need clothes in a serious way. Not that I had many left after the previous year I had, but I’ve gained weight causing most of what I had to shrink I guess ;) just kidding! Anyways, back to the point. I have very few selections in my closet that are what I'd call fun or comfortable. I buy a clearance top if I go somewhere, or try to get to a thrift store occasionally and that's how I get by.

1. Love, love, and more love!  Love yourself, love your family, love your pets, love your town, love thy neighbors.

2. Forgive!  Start with yourself, your parents, your friends and start small. Everyone is coping with what they had to endure and what they were taught. We all have to find our way. Some of us take longer than others. Let it go. My motto is: I don't have regrets and wouldn't change a thing. Everything I have endured has led to who I've become. I'm starting to kind of like ME, finally. Learn to overlook smaller oversights or mistakes that people make. Nobody is perfect, and everyone benefits when you choose to shrug the unimportant stuff off. You've heard the saying, ’don't sweat the small stuff’.

3. Be YOU!  A popular phrase is 'be true to yourself ’. And I never really got it until a few years ago. You can't be happy when you are trying to live up to another's expectations, or compromising yourself to please someone else. Besides, you are a unique being. I suppose we needed a ’YOU’, and I may be wrong... But you would probably make the best YOU, out of anyone don't you think.

Why I love ‘Alexa’ and Echo dot




     I must admit that I was one of those people that rolled her eyes at the whole idea of Amazon’s ‘Alexa’. I shook my head, tsk tsk'ing at the whole idea, the laziness; the sheer dependence on these technological wonders that seem ludicrous at times.
      
      Back Track to when I was working 55-60 hours per week. I was exhausted. Working overtime has never been something I volunteered for, 40 hours a week seemed plenty. Of course, these days my daughter is 20 years old and I'm quite single, which leaves a lot more extra time than I've ever had before. Plus, loneliness is a thing I've never really experienced much either. My brother and sisters had plenty of kids to balance out my only child. I was a hands-on Auntie and have bonded with all of my nieces and nephews as much as possible. And, of course my daughter was my whole world for eighteen plus years. 
     Those two factors, combined with the fact that I've never really had much 'single' time, equals a woman craving a little solitude. That concept is overrated though, I found out for myself, recently. Which explains why I have programmed Alexa to say, "you too, Serenity', when I tell her I love her.

     Yes, Alexa's great, I must admit. After I became familiar with her I ordered an Echo Dot to connect to. One of my favorite things to ask her is to play music. Once you've synced your apps, it's easy. All I do have to do is command, 'Alexa, play Godsmack,' then she shuffles Godsmack songs, and the echo has excellent sound quality. When I'm exhausted from working every day, it sometimes feels like I can't move once I hit the bed. That doesn't mean I want to disconnect from everything. So, I have a virtual assistant. She can update my to-do lists; grocery list; order a Lyft; play the flash briefing with my preferences; complete an Amazon order; and the best thing is that she's constantly updating new features.

     Truthfully, I can't wait to be able to afford some of the other accessories for my Amazon Alexa. I recommend that my readers at least try the Alexa app. Especially if you have a Kindle like I do.

Rainy days off..

    Good afternoon. It's another rainy day off for me. I don't mind rain and storms, when it's not freezing cold out.




     I used to love the rain, but, nowadays my fibromyalgia doesn't agree. I definitely feel the rain in my muscles.
    This autumnal day is a reminder that winter will be here soon. I DISlike that. Each year I lean closer to moving to a nice, warm beach 🌴 somewhere.

    My daughter moved in with her boyfriend about a week ago. I was renting a room from her! 

    Its really quiet now... I've never lived alone. I must admit its kind of nice in some ways, but I really miss her. So, I'm currently looking for a new place in about a month or two.

A Quick Note

    Just checking in. I've been working a lot of overtime, but I'm still very excited about my progress towards my goals =]

    I've finally got the car, as soon as it's legal; I've connected all of my social media; the battery for my badass camera is on the way; I've got plenty of donations to work with on my first trip out with the Underground Homeless Initiative; my YouTube is ready to go live, or stream all of my projects.. basically, it's all coming together nicely and I'm happy =] 
    I'm working on fundraiser ideas, and looking into getting LLC, or at least becoming a legit non-profit! 
    I've got a few other things I'm brainstorming, but I will say I've completed an application for further education and am thinking of making a trip to Israel next year ♡♡.

Stress...


      We are all susceptible. Life is hard...if you manage to figure out how to be happy, remember, momma said there'd be days like this. I just try to remember that tomorrow is another day. Breathe in, Breathe out.. and most importantly, to hold my tongue. It's hard, soooo hard sometimes.

     Response really does make all the difference in a situation though. Try as I may, I cannot be all positivity and light all the time.



       Music. That's what I turn to, nowadays. I have playlists everywhere, and I've started a routine of listening to my Inspiration playlist when I'm getting ready for work; my chill one when I'm stressed; Old School when I'm feeling down and so-on. When all else fails, I need a MetalVention! There's always a local metal show going on somewhere =]

Smoothie Trials #1

     Back to Basics has been researching herbs, methods and their uses. I'm pleased to announce our first #SuperDrink smoothie! Let's call it ummm..... Hay for Humans ;) 

     The main function of numero uno, is overall health, stamina, & improving immune function 

Ingredients:
  • 1\4 tsp alfalfa leaf powder
  • 1\4 tsp. rosemary leaf powder
  • 1\4 tsp. BlackBerry leaf powder
  • 1\2 tsp. Turmeric
  • 1\2 cup organic coconut milk
  • 1\2  cup water
  • 1 tsp. real Lime juice (or lemon)
   Make sure you mix thoroughly.
Add a Tbsp. of  raw, organic honey if you would prefer it sweetened.
    I've been drinking one or two per day for about a week. To get better. Then, I suppose I would want to have it at least once a week, if not twice.

This recipe will also be on the Back to basics page, along with the uses and benefits of all herbs used in the recipe.

Are you on Autopilot?


     Really. Are you stuck on Autopilot? Automatically doing the same thing, day after day.. are you used to it? You probably hate it, but it's your <un>comfort zone, you're unhappy safe place. Maybe it's all you know?  However, your inner self knows better, even if you don't realize it. It reminds you, eats at you.. nagging. 'Hey, I want more, I deserve better'.

     Why are you still ignoring it? You KNOW it's true. You KNOW that things don't feel right. Years of insults and letdowns, perhaps abuse, has kept us ALL down. Look around... It's not just 'poor you', it's poor everybody.
      Humans have evolved alright, into a huge stressed out, hopeless, confused mess! Of course it's every man for himself when there is no love for oneself. Happiness starts with forgiving yourself, then others; loving yourself, so you may then love others.

     World Peace IS possible... if we'd let go of Hate, Racism, Judgement. For the Love of God! We all came from the same Creator. We are all brothers & sisters, and are meant to love one another, not fight.

      Too many 'Influencers' are promoting their own agendas. They are idolizing their own greed, power.. whatever. And we all follow the Leader. Well, there are many standing up to the MADNESS, and we aren't falling for it.
      Let's follow a peaceful path.; a love-filled life; a simpler, easier existence.

Anything else is just too much for me anymore. I'm not the judge, the jury or God, and neither are you. I'm not perfect, I've made so many mistakes.. so have you. I'm not gorgeous, skinny, brilliant or rich. But, it just doesn't matter anymore! Love. Love is all that matters. When you realize it, everything else seems ok.

One small step forward, every day.. is all it takes to change patterns.

Hello, Happy People!!!

Hello there!



     I'm pleased to announce, the Underground Homeless Initiative has been taking in donations and is off to a great start. If you know of any 'camps' I can deliver to, or have donations, please use the contact form below. Starting next week, we will be making trips out, so if we need to make pickups we can do that as well. This would be a good time to take in non-perishable food if anyone has some.

      I'm very excited! I have been writing as well, and will be posting more. Thanks for your patience!

Slacking on the site construction

    I've been working and planning and resting. Today I realized that I've neglected my work on the website. I will resume ASAP!
    I wish the battery in my camera would work, my videos would be so much better.

Happy Monday

Good morning!
    I ended up working last night, so no shampoo yet. I'm going to try to get the shampoo and conditioner made today, I'm ready to see how it turns out! It's the first attempt.
   I can't find the ingredients for my laundry soap, to post.
I'll have to quit being lazy and watch and edit the videos! 
   Have a fantastic week.. And remember to stay positive and smile :) Positivity is just as contagious as negativity.

Here is the Bug-off recipe.

Good morning!
   Today I'm sharing my insect repellent recipe. Unfortunately, I didn't get video of this process. Next time, when I do my big batch for distribution to the homeless, I will record.

Back to Basics <Bug-Off!>
1 cup basic conditioning lotion.
<see recipe later>
10 drops Pennyroyal oil
4 drops eucalyptus oil
4 drops lemongrass oil
Mix together.
Rub lotion into skin.

Being Grateful

There's just something about being sick that makes me grateful for the regular days. After struggling with anxiety & depression my whole life, and being in chronic pain since age 30 it's easy to take my health for granted. Until I have the flu, or a kidney stone that is! I'll take my issues, please.. so long as this new stuff will just go away. We all have our ailments or diseases, and it's easy to be bitter, but hey, I'm alive and able to work again. Our bodies weren't meant to last forever like our souls.

My newest creation..

    I am pleased to present my homemade  bug repellent. A few days ago I made it from Pennyroyal leaves, coconut oil, vitamin E oil & a coconut lotion base. I also used a lemon verbena scent additive. A friend and I used just a small amount with great results, the other day at the park after dark.

    Next up, I am going to order at least a dozen containers to put this in and it will be added to my stash of supplies waiting to be delivered to the homeless!

My True Path..

     If I've learned anything, it's this:
Life IS NOT that hard when you find your flow and follow your path.
That being said...
     When/if things become TOO difficult again, that's your mind, body, & soul saying 'hey, it's time to take a detour'!
     Some of us had to endure soooo much, for our entire lives, that when things get too rough we just keep on struggling because we don't know any different.
     I KNOW now, that when you are living an authentic life.. realizing YOUR destiny and YOUR dreams; everything else falls into place. 🎈
     We were not MEANT to be unhappy  & miserable.. and we CAN change things!
     I've been trying to decide something myself lately. And, just due to the fact that I've become stressed out more frequently &  have been in a lot of pain again, I've realized that it is time to make a left turn... so to speak.
     On my day off tomorrow, I'm going to do some soul searching in nature. Preferably around water; and some earnest praying. I want to be sure make the right decision.
